Balos and Gramvousa Tour
Introduction
Gramvousa Island or “the pirates’ island” is at the northwest side of Crete at the top of the peninsula of Gramvousa. Because it is an island it is accessible only by water. At the top of the hill there is the Venetian fortress built in the 16th century AD. The view from the fortress is breathtaking. From the top you can see Balos Lagoon, part of the peninsula of Gramvousa and the island of (wild) Agria Gramvousa. Also, there is a small beach if you want to swim and a canteen for refreshment.
Balos lagoon or Balos beach is at the western side of Peninsula of Gramvousa near to Gramvousa Island. It is accessible both by road and sea. The lagoon has been formatted naturally, the water is cold and its color is green and blue. Across Balos beach there is the cape of Tigani and the church of Gramvousa. The area is beautiful and it is protected from Natura program.
At the beach there are sun beds and umbrellas and the municipality of Kissamos has a canteen for a snack or refreshment. Some parts of the lagoon are also ideal for snorkeling.

The Program
From 08: 00 till 08:35 in the morning the bus will stop to all the pick up points to take all the passengers that will join the trip to Balos beach.
Approximately at 08:45 all the pasengers are on board, the bus is at Kolymbari village and at 09:00 the trip beggins!
The bus will continue west towards Kissamos and after it passes Kasteli village there is Kissamos port.
There, you embark the boat and at 10:00 in the morning the cruise starts. First the boat sails along the peninsula of Gramvousa and after 1 hour it arrives at the "Pirates Island". There you can disembark the vessel and go up to visit the Venetian castle which is at the top of the hill or you can swim at the beach. At Gramvousa Island the stop is for 2 hours.
After the two hours stop everybody gets back in the boat and the boat departs towards Balos lagoon. In Balos the stop is for 3 hours and there you will enjoy swimming and sun tanning.
After the three hours stop everybody embarks the vessel and the vessel departs towards Kissamos port. At approximately 18:00 the boat arrives in Kissamos. At Kissamos port the bus is waiting for you and at 19:00-19:30 you are back to your hotel.
