General Information,

Platanias village is located 10kms west from Chania town. It is a popular sea resort with well organized tourism infrastructure. Platanias is divided in two areas the Ano (upper) Platanias and the Kato (lower) Platanias. In the upper area you can enjoy quiet and romantic walks in the graphic alleys. Also, the view is fantastic you can see the island of Theodorou, the sea and the whole village. Moreover, there are several tavernas and restaurants with panoramic view where you can enjoy your dinner or aperitif.

Kato Platanias (the lower area) is above the beach. It offers many seaside restaurants, tavernas and bars. The village has an excellent tourism infrastructure and you can find anything from bookstores to post offices, banks and medical offices. The night life is intense with many dancing clubs and bars. But there are also many cocktail bars for a relaxed drink or a good bottle of wine.

The beach,
The beach is part of the blue flag awarded beach of 25km from Chania to Kolympari. It is well organized with sunbeds and umbrellas. A lifeguard always watches over the beach during the day and there are water sports for the more extreme travelers.
